Day 02: Lhasa
Visit Drepung
monastery, which is the largest monastery Of the Gelugpa sect
in Lhasa, it was built in 1416 by Jamyang Choejie, a Disciple
of Tsongkhapa. after visiting Drepung drive to Norbulingkha the
summer palace of the Dalai Lama which was built in 18th century. O/N Hotel.
Day 03: Lhasa
Morning visit Potala
palace, the seat of the both religion and politics in Tibet. It
was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo and
later renovated by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Afternoon
visit Sera monastery 5 kilometer north of Lhasa city, it was built
in 1419 by Jamchen Choejie, a disciple of Tsongkapa, the founder
Of the Gelugpa sect. Sera is one of the three major monasteries
of yellow sect in Tibet. After visiting sera drive to Jokhang temple and Barkhor market, this is the
holiest shrine in Tibet and houses a golden statue of the Buddha
Shakyamuni, which was brought to Tibet by Chinese princess Wenchen. O/N Hotel.
Day 04: Lhasa - Tsedang
Drive Lhasa to Tsedang.
It takes 5 hours driving through the Yarlung Tsangpo River via
visiting Samye monastery. O/N Hotel.
Day 05: Tsedang
Visit to Yumbulagang Palace, Tibet's oldest building, and take in the fabulous view of the Yarlung valley. Then move to Trandruk temple, which is located about 3km up the Yarlung Valley from the city of Tsetang and visit to Chong Gye monastery. O/N Hotel.
Day 06: Tsedang - Yamdrok Lake - Shigatse
Drive to Yamdrok Lake. The lake lies to the Shannan Region in Tibet, one of the threebiggest lakes in Tibet. This turquoise green and freshwater lake is a countless depth and is spread in 624 square kilometers making about ten independent hilly islands inside. And then we will visit the Pelkhor Choede, which is a typical Tibetan Buddhist style monastery, lying about 230 kilometers (143 miles) south of Lhasa and 100 kilometers (62 miles) east of Shigatse. Pelkhor Choede enjoys a high status in Tibetan Buddhism history because it houses three sects - Sakyapa, Kadampa and Gelugpa together.
Afternoon, Arrive in Shigatse, the second biggest city in Tibet is situated at the altitude of 12,600 ft. It is the famous city for its great Tashilhunpo Monastery - the seat of the Panchen Lama, who is regarded as the reincarnation of the Buddha of Endless Enlightenment. O/N Hotel.
Day 07: Shigatse - Lhasa
Visit Tashilunpo Monastery, which is is one of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa (or Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet. Also called the Heap of Glory, the monastery is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), Shigatse. Founded by the First Dailai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. The main structures found in the Tashilhunpo Monastery are The Maitreya Chapel, The Panchen Lama's Palace and The Kelsang Temple. Tashilhunpo is the seat of the Panchen Lama since the Fourth Panchen Lama took charge in the monastery, and there are now nearly 800 lamas. In the afternoon, Drive back to Lhasa. O/N Hotel.
