| Day 01: Fly
to Lhasa and transfer to hotel, after rest for acclimatization
in the hotel. O/n in yak hotel or similar.
Day 02: Morning visit Potala
palace, the seat of the both religion and politics in Tibet. It
was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo and
later renovated by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Afternoon
visit Sera monastery 5 kilometer north of Lhasa City, it was built
in 1419 by Jamchen Choejie, a disciple of Tsongkapa, and the founder
of the Gelugpa sect. Sera is one of the three major monasteries
of yellow sect in Tibet.
Day 03: Morning visit Drepung
monastery, which is the largest monastery
Of the Gelugpa sect in Lhasa, it was built in 1416 by Jamyang
Choejie, a disciple of Tsongkhapa. After visiting Drepung drive
to Norbulingkha the summer palace of the Dalai Lama which was
built in 18th century. Afternoon visit Jokhang temple and Barkhor
market, this is the holiest shrine in Tibet and houses a golden
statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha, which was brought to Tibet by
Chinese princess Wenchen.
Day 04: Drive LHASA to SHIGATSE
(3900m), 280 km.
Leave Lhasa and drive to Shigatse which is 280km west of Lhasa,
it takes
5 hours driving and arriving at around 12 AM before noon, after
lunch, visit the Tashi Lunpo monastery, which is the seat of the
Panchen Lama.
Day 05: Drive SHIGATSE to GYANGTSE
(3950m)
After breakfast, drive 90km southeast of Shigatse, you will get
to Gyangtse,
Gyangtse is the bustling town steeped in history, in the 15th
century, it serves the capital of a small kingdom. The beautiful
Kumbum Chorten (stupa) built around 1400AD and the huge ruined
castle.
Day 06: Drive GYANGTSE to TSEDANG
(3700m) 390 km.
It takes 8-9 hours driving from Gyangtse to Tsedang crossing the
Karola Pass (5010m), the Korola pass climbs between two lofty
mountains, Another one hour’s driving will get to Yamdrok Lake
(turquoise lake) A beautiful drive of about 1 hour through the
lakeside will soon get to The Kambala pass from where you will
have beautiful view over the Whole lake then drive down the pass
by twisting round and round to Tsedang.
Day 07: TSEDANG SIGHTSEEING
TOUR (3700m)
Morning visit Yumbulakhang palace which is the earliest Buddhist
Temple in Tibet.
Afternoon visit Tradruk temple which is located 30 kilometers
from the center
of Tsedang. O/n at Tsedang hotel.
Day 08: Drive Tsedang to Lhasa
airport for your flight to next destination.
