Culture Shows - Almost every restaurant and hotel that caters to the non-backpacking, up-scale market hotels, hosts a nightly culture show complete with local dances, music, songs and costumes. Usually starts at around 7.00 PM and costs about Rs 200 per person.
The Himalchuli Cultural Group is a Classical and Folk Dance group, which performs nightly, at 7.00 PM - 8.30 PM, at The Festival Restaurant and Bar in Lazimpat, (behind the Peace Zone English School) Ph. 4415280. The restaurant serves excellent Nepali and Newari cuisine.
Kathmandu Kitchen, Bhancha Ghar, Nepali Chulo, Bhojan Griha performs nepali cultural following by typical nepalese dinner every day.
In Pokhara many restaurants have a cultural dance show on every night. Sign boards outside the restaurants advertise what’s happening.
Movies
There's nothing like going to the movies. There are several cinema halls in Kathmandu where you can sit back and enjoy the celluloid offerings of Kathmandu and Bombay as well as from Holywood. Nepalese films Hindi films as well as English movies from Holywood are the most popular cinematic fare around here. You can know it's a cinema hall by the huge colorful posters of the hero thrashing the villain pasted outside. Mostly Hindi movies are much popular among the Nepalese. Tickets are not very expensive and there are three shows everyday: 11:30 am, 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm (four shows on Saturday).
